Nittany Lions head to Liberty University for ITA Regionals

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Six members of the Penn State women's tennis team head to Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, Oct. 15-19 for the Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Association Atlantic Regionals.

The ITA tournament will be held at the Hershey-Esbenshade Tennis Court, and the Sports Racket facilities. The tournament is hosting 28 teams, and Penn State has first day draws with James Madison University, Virginia Tech, Liberty, University of Pittsburgh and University of Delaware.The six Nittany Lions on the road to Liberty University are Katia Blik, Jackie Zuhse, Taylor Shukow, Kim Surin, Kathrine Whiteaway, Devan McCluskey. Jacqueline Zuhse and Taylor Shukow are both competing in the qualifying draw round of 32, starting Oct. 15. Blik (11 seed), Surin (16 seed) and McClusky are all competing in the main draw round of 64, starting Oct. 16.Penn State begins doubles matches on Oct. 15th. In the round of 64, Blik/McClusky take on Komer/Shuren from University of Delaware and Whiteaway/Zuhse play Blakely/Rezende from Pitt."The team has worked hard on court and in the weight room in preparation for this tournament," said Fenwick, "The regional tournament has many great schools competing and will push us, we will have to be focused and ready to play from the beginning."
