Penn State Beaver names new head wrestling coach

Carl Yanek has been named head wrestling coach at Penn State Beaver, effective immediately.

Yanek has been head wrestling coach at Moon Area Middle School since last year and has also coached at Fort Cherry High School, Central Valley High School, West Allegheny High School and South Fayette High School. During his 20-year career, he has coached 11 state qualifiers and five state place winners. As an athlete, Yanek was the 1987 Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League Champion and state qualifier in wrestling. He holds a college record of 91-56-1 and was a regional champion as well as a Division II National Qualifier in 1990-91, when he wrestled for California University of Pennsylvania. Yanek is a full-time THS supervisor for World Wide Flight Services, Moon Township.
