MCKEESPORT, Pa. — Penn State Greater Allegheny is co-hosting a charity basketball game with the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (PMAHCC) to raise funds to support PMAHCC’s scholarships for Pittsburgh’s Hispanic community.
The event is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan 12, in the Wunderley Gymnasium on Greater Allegheny’s campus in McKeesport, Pennsylvania.
The game will feature Joey Cora, 3rd baseman coach for the Pittsburgh Pirates; Frank Coonelly, president of the Pittsburgh Pirates; Scoot Warrick of the Harlem Wizards; Omar Moreno, former Pittsburgh Pirate and 1979 World Series champion team member; Roberto Clemente Jr.; members of the Steel City Yellow Jackets; and many more.
“We are so pleased to be teaming up with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for this event,” said Jacqueline Edmondson, chancellor and chief academic officer at Greater Allegheny. “The chamber has been a wonderful community partner and incredibly supportive of our students through their scholarship programs.”
“Since 2011, PMAHCC has provided over $170,000 in scholarships to students," said Jesús Torres, treasurer of the PMAHCC. “We cannot wait to see how many students we can help this year. We look forward to having everyone’s support at the event.”
Tickets to the event can be purchased on the chamber’s website.
