MIDDLETOWN, Pa. — Starting in fall 2017, Penn State Harrisburg intercollegiate athletics will add women’s golf as the 17th NCAA Division III sport offered at the campus. The program will compete in the highly competitive Capital Athletic Conference (CAC).
Recruiting for the women’s golf program will begin immediately under the guidance of Penn State Harrisburg men’s golf head coach Malcolm Jackson, who will take over duties as the head coach of both the men’s and women’s golf programs, effective fall 2017.
“We are very excited to add women's golf as a varsity intercollegiate athletic program here at Penn State Harrisburg,” said Penn State Harrisburg Athletic Director Rahsaan Carlton. “Women’s golf is an emerging sport within the NCAA Division III, and now within the Capital Athletic Conference, so we're thrilled to offer these additional opportunities for women to compete at the college level. Intercollegiate athletics is an integral part of students' educational experience, and we're proud to provide this opportunity to positively impact women in their academic and athletic pursuits here at Penn State Harrisburg.”
Penn State Harrisburg will now offer nine varsity women’s athletic programs to go along with its roster of eight men’s varsity sports.
The campus will become the fifth CAC member institution, joining York College, Marymount University, Christopher Newport University, and the University of Mary Washington, to add women’s golf as a varsity sport.

Penn State Harrisburg’s home golf course will be located at Dauphin Highlands Golf Course in Harrisburg.
