Penn State Lehigh Valley hires its first women’s soccer coach to lead new team

Women’s soccer camp to be held Apr. 21

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — Michael Missmer has been selected as the first head coach of the new 2018 Penn State Lehigh Valley women’s soccer team.

Missmer has extensive successful club soccer experience and has been involved in high school soccer with Whitehall High School and Pen Argyl area high school girls’ soccer. He was an assistant at Whitehall in 2012, when the team reached the PIAA State Final, and as a head coach he took Pen Argyl from 0-18 to reaching the PIAA District tournament in 2016 and 2017.

“The teams I’ve been involved with have all become successful because of the character of the players.  I’m looking for student-athletes with that same character who are willing to pursue excellence in every moment on the field and in the classroom,” said Missmer.

Missmer will hold a Women’s Soccer I.D. Camp from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, for all uncommitted high school seniors or juniors, JUCO student athletes, and current/potential Penn State Lehigh Valley students. The event is free and registration is required. To register, contact Missmer at mxm2479@psu.edu, and include name, phone number, graduation year and position in the body of the email.
