UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The second of Penn State’s three primetime games this season, Oct. 11 at Michigan, will kick at 7 p.m. and be televised by ESPN2. The game also will air on the Penn State Sports Network and www.GoPSUsports.com.
Coach James Franklin’s Nittany Lions (4-1, 1-1) will be playing in the Wolverines’ first Big Ten home night game and the third overall in Michigan Stadium history. Penn State has a bye this week, while Michigan visits Rutgers on Saturday.
The Nittany Lions and Wolverines will be meeting for the 18th time overall and the second consecutive year in primetime. Penn State has won the last four meetings on the field against Michigan and the teams will be meeting in Michigan Stadium for the first time since 2009. The two traditional powers are Big Ten East Division rivals starting this season and will play annually.
Last October, Penn State rallied from a 10-point deficit in the final six minutes to force overtime, and defeated No. 18 Michigan, 43-40, in four overtimes -- the longest game in the Big Ten Conference’s 119-year history.
Penn State will be making its third appearance of the season on an ESPN network. Every Penn State football game has been televised the past 10 seasons and 245 of the last 247 contests overall have been on TV. All Penn State football, and men’s and women’s basketball games air on the Penn State Sports Network and www.GoPSUsports.com.
After the Michigan game, the Nittany Lions host Ohio State on Oct. 25 for an 8 p.m. clash that will air on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2. A very limited number of tickets are available for the Ohio State game, which is a Penn State White Out. The kick times and TV for Penn State’s five games in November will be announced either six or 12 days prior to each contest.
More than 6,000 new Penn State football season tickets and 72,000 single game and group sale tickets have been sold for this season. Ticket purchases and information are available at www.PSUnrivaled.com, by calling 800-NITTANY (weekdays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.) or visiting the Beaver Stadium ticket office (weekdays from 10 a.m-6 p.m.).
The Beaver Stadium crowd of 102,910 this past Saturday was the largest for a Penn State home day game since the 2011 season. Ticket sales for home games against Ohio State and Maryland (Nov. 1) have already exceeded 100,000.
Pre-paid single game parking passes for the general parking lots for all home games also are available at www.GoPSUsports.com/tickets.
