UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men's lacrosse team was picked No. 8 in the United State Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Preseason Coaches' Poll announced on Monday afternoon.
Penn State, who has arguably one of the tougher schedules in the nation, will face four fellow top-10 opponents in 2019, and seven total in the top-20, along with three more who were receiving votes in the poll.
The Nittany Lions, who finished 2018 at No. 20 in the polls, are slated to play at preseason No. 1 Yale and at preseason No. 3 Maryland. Penn State will also have a neutral site game against No. 5 Cornell and will host No. 7 Johns Hopkins.
Penn State will also host No. 12 Rutgers, No. 15 Ohio State and in the season and home opener, No. 20 Villanova.
All but three of Penn State's remaining opponents are receiving votes in the opening poll of the season as Michigan, Robert Morris, and Penn all received at least 10 votes.
The Nittany Lions were also picked No. 9 in the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll that was announced on Monday as well.
