UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State students can attend the Sept. 6 football home opener at a special price: two tickets for $40 each with their valid student ID.

Students from all Penn State campuses and the World Campus are able to buy two tickets for the Nittany Lions’ home opener vs. Akron (1-0) on the heels of last week’s thrilling 26-24 win over UCF in Dublin, Ireland. Saturday’s game is the first for Penn State head coach James Franklin on the Beaver Stadium sidelines.

The Akron game also is Community Heroes Day and Penn State’s undefeated 1994 team will be honored at halftime. The 1994 Nittany Lions were the Big Ten’s first 12-0 team, winning the Big Ten title and the 1995 Rose Bowl over Oregon.

Tickets for the noon clash between Penn State and Akron are available in advance at the Bryce Jordan Center ticket office weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

This special student ticket offer also is available this Saturday at the Beaver Stadium ticket office (Near Gate E) from 8 a.m. until the noon kickoff.

The seats for this special student ticket offer will not be located in the 21,000-seat season ticket student section in Beaver Stadium.

Nearly 6,000 new Penn State football season tickets and more than 50,000 single game tickets have been sold for the 2014 campaign. Fans are able to purchase Penn State football season tickets and make their Nittany Lion Club donation online at www.GoPSUsports.com/seasontickets, while choosing their own seats by utilizing Virtual Venue. New season tickets, the four-game partial ticket plan (Akron, Ohio State, Maryland and Michigan State) and single game also are available at www.PSUnrivaled.com or by calling 800-NITTANY, weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
