NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. — The Penn State Altoona men’s swimming program was recognized on Thursday, Feb. 27 for its performance during last week’s Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championships, earning six spots on the league’s All-Conference team.
AMCC All-Conference status in swimming is determined by finishes and results during the four-day conference championships, which occurred last Wednesday through Saturday.
Highlighting the All-AMCC team for men’s swimming was Penn State Altoona freshman Isaac Swanson (Clearfield, Pennsylvania/Clearfield), who took Men’s Swimmer of the Year and Men’s Newcomer of the Year honors. Swanson was the top point-getter among all AMCC men’s competitors during the league’s championships.
Swanson had a hand in setting seven new Penn State Altoona men’s swimming program records during last week’s championships. The freshman set new records in the 200 Yard Freestyle (1:41.97), 100 Yard Backstroke (52.31), and 200 Yard Backstroke (1:54.26). Swanson also set new team records in the 50 Yard Freestyle (21.82) and 100 Yard Freestyle (46.83) while competing in relay events, and he was part of the foursome that set new records in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay (1:27.59) and the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay (3:13.89).
Swanson had two individual first-place finishes during the championships, winning the 200 Yard Freestyle in 1:41.97 and the 200 Yard Backstroke in 1:54.26. He also earned a second-place finish in the 100 Yard Backstroke, posting a time of 52.31.

In total this season, Swanson set eight new Penn State Altoona men’s swimming individual records while also being part of two new team records in relay events. He was selected as the AMCC Men’s Swimmer of the Week three times during his freshman campaign.
In addition to his Swimmer and Newcomer of the Year awards, Swanson also took first-team All-AMCC status for his performances in the 200 Yard Freestyle and the 200 Yard Backstroke, and he took second-team All-Conference recognition in the 100 Yard Backstroke.
