UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State women's golf team is set to compete in the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships in Knoxville, Tenn. this weekend. Hosted by the University of Tennessee, the event is a familiar one for the four Nittany Lions that have competed in the tournament two times including a 2012 victory. The stroke play tournament will take place October 17-19 at Cherokee Country Club. The Donald Ross designed course will play at 5,870 yards with a par of 71.

Penn State faces stiff competition with seven Top-25 teams competing including the No. 2 ranked South Carolina Gamecocks. The 17-team field includes: Chattanooga, College of Charleston, Denver, Eastern Kentucky, ETSU, Furman, Kent State, Louisville, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Notre Dame, Penn State South Carolina, Tennessee, UCF, and Wisconsin.

Senior Katlyn Elliott (Peterborough, Ontario) seeks to help the Nittany Lions secure a victory as she did in 2012 when she finished at +2 for the tournament at Holston Hills Country Club. Senior Erin Michel (Mason, Ohio) also has experience with the event as she competed in 2013.

Juniors Grace Chung (Richmond Hill, Ontario) and Halley Morell (Brecksville, Ohio) will compete in the event for the first time as well as Freshman Ariana Coyle Diez (Mount Merrion, Dublin) who looks to add to her third place success from the Nittany Lion Invitational.

Tee times are set to commence at 9 a.m. on Friday. Live scoring can be found at www.golfstat.com
