YORK, Pa. — Emily Colon, a women’s basketball player, and Richard Grant, a men’s basketball player, both at Penn State York, have added honors from the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) to the accolades they received earlier from the Penn State University Athletic Association (PSUAC).
Colon, a senior majoring in psychology, was named a USCAA Academic All-American. The Academic All American designation is awarded to student-athletes with a sophomore or higher standing and a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher. In addition to Academic All American honors, Colon earned USCAA All-American Honorable Mention. Student-athletes are nominated for this award by coaches and athletic directors, and voted on by the USCAA.
The PSUAC also honored Colon for her play in the 2017-18 season. She was named Second Team All-Conference and was a PSUAC Player of the Week in January.
Grant, a junior majoring in human development and family studies, earned First Team USCAA All American honors. To earn this award, Grant was nominated by coaches and athletic directors who then voted to select the honorees.
The PSUAC also honored Grant with First Team All-Conference honors for his play in the 2017-18 basketball season. He was also named PSUAC Player of the Week in February.
