Children are invited to audition for 'Jesus Christ Superstar'

The Center Theatre Players will hold open auditions for a variety of children’s roles in the group’s summer production of "Jesus Christ Superstar" directed by Sandy Reigel. Children ages 9-13 are welcome to audition.

The show, which will be presented as part of the Penn State Beaver Brodhead Cultural Center’s summer season, will be held at 7:30 p.m. on July 26, 27 and 28, in the auditorium of the Beaver campus Student Union Building, Center Township.

Children’s auditions will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 6, in the auditorium. There is no need to schedule an audition time or prepare a song for the audition. Children will learn a song taught by Reigel and will perform it individually. An accompanist will be provided, but individuals may bring their own accompaniment as well.

"Jesus Christ Superstar," with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice, was first staged on Broadway in 1971 and has become one of the world’s most widely-recognized rock operas.

This summer marks the 30th anniversary of the Center Theatre Players productions for the Brodhead Cultural Center.
