Several hundred Penn State Beaver students, staff and faculty visited the free annual Health, Wellness and Fitness Fair on Nov. 5 in the campus gymnasium.
The event was sponsored by the campus Health Center, campus nurse Barb Kugel, and the Office of Student Affairs and Student Activities. More than 30 diverse vendors attended the fair and provided a variety of free educational materials, demonstrations, giveaways and other health-related items. A wide range of topics were covered, including substance abuse prevention and awareness; physical and mental rehabilitation; health in the workplace; personal and crisis counseling; cancer prevention and awareness; sexual health awareness and sexually transmitted disease prevention; eye and dental health; chiropractic; fitness; domestic and sexual violence prevention and awareness; and massage.
Free lunches for all attendees were provided courtesy of Chick-fil-A, the Beaver campus Brodhead Bistro, and the campus Office of Housing and Food Services. Fifty-two attendees received hundreds of dollars in prizes from area merchants and health care providers, including gift cards and certificates for free services.
