ERIE, Pa. — The Boilermaker Jazz Band will perform a free concert in Bruno’s Café at Penn State Behrend beginning at noon on Thursday, April 21. The performance is free and open to the public.

Formed in 1988 by Paul Cosentino, who specializes in classic jazz from the 1920s to the 1940s, the Boilermaker Jazz Band interprets songs from the Great American Songbook. The band has performed at Lincoln Center, the Smithsonian Institution and the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. The band’s festival appearances have included the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, the International Lindy Hop Championships and the Jeju Island Swing Festival in South Korea.

The Boilermakers have recorded 14 albums. Their music has been featured on the Fox TV show “So You Think You Can Dance.”

The Rhythms of Life series is an outreach program of Penn State Behrend’s Office of Educational Equity and Diversity Programs. The free lunchtime concerts introduce students and others in the Penn State Behrend community to a broad range of world influences and traditions in music, dance and storytelling.
