Fasenmyer Engineering Design Conference
8:00 AM - 12:30 PM / May 02, 2026
More than 300 students will present their capstone projects during the Fasenmyer Engineering Design Conference at Penn State Behrend on May 2. The presentations, which begin at 8 a.m. in Burke Center, will feature a drug-interaction chatbot, an automated laser marker, a 3D-printed robot and a convertible storage and performance platform for the college’s music ensembles.
Details, including a schedule of presentations, are at the conference webpage.
All students in the School of Engineering at Behrend must complete a yearlong capstone applied-design project. The work is showcased at the Fasenmyer conference, which is named for the late Richard J. Fasenmyer, a 1969 graduate of the college and a longtime supporter of the School of Engineering. He founded RJF International Corp., a world leader in the manufacture and distribution of interior wall coverings, industrial matting products and specialty films.
This year’s keynote speaker will be Wes Salandro, the vice president of production at SpaceX. He earned a degree in mechanical engineering at Behrend in 2009 and a doctorate from Clemson University with a focus on manufacturing research.
