The architect and author James B. Garrison will discuss the architectural significance of Penn State Behrend’s Glenhill Farmhouse in a talk at Metzgar Center on Oct. 30. The program, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 7 p.m.

Garrison, a global design lead at Vanguard, has written extensively about R. Brognard Okie, the architect of Glenhill Farmhouse. Okie, a Philadelphia architect, began designing the farmhouse — the weekend home of Ernst and Mary Behrend — in 1931. The building became the centerpiece of Glenhill Farm and remains at the core of what is now the Penn State Behrend campus.

Garrison’s talk is part of the annual Founder’s Day program at Behrend, a celebration of Mary Behrend’s decision to donate the Glenhill property to Penn State. The talk is co-sponsored by the college’s 75th Anniversary Committee and the Behrend Alumni Society.
