Behrend
Harambee Dinner
5:30 PM - 7:00 PM / October 12, 2023
The annual Harambee Dinner, a celebration of cultural diversity at Penn State Behrend, will be held on Oct. 12 in McGarvey Commons. The program, which will include a community meal and Afro-Brazilian music and dance, will begin at 5:30 p.m.
Harambee is Swahili for “let’s pull together.” The term originated in Kenya as a slogan for national unity.
The Harambee Dinner at Penn State Behrend is an effort to unify the college community by celebrating the cultural diversity among Behrend’s students, faculty and staff. The program is sponsored by the Multi-Cultural Council and the Office of Educational Equity Programs.
This year’s keynote speaker will be Jonathan Medina, a former Georgetown University football player who raised more than $200,000 in scholarship funds for future students. His "Dream Bigger" initiative has supported students at more than 1,000 universities.
