Music at Noon: The Logan Series

12:00 PM - 1:00 PM / February 19, 2024

Music at Noon: The Logan Series at Penn State Behrend will continue Feb. 19 with a performance by the Gateways Brass Collective. The concert, in Behrend’s McGarvey Commons, is free and open to the public.

The Gateways Brass Collective blends traditional brass quintet repertoire with explorations into contemporary jazz. The group formed from the Gateways Music Festival, which connects and supports professional classical musicians of African descent.

The performance is part of the Black History Month celebration at Penn State Behrend.

Music at Noon: The Logan Series was founded by Kay Logan in 1989 and is supported by a $1 million endowment by the Kay Hardesty Logan Foundation. The series was designed to strip away the mystique that often is attached to professional chamber music. The lunchtime concerts, which are presented in McGarvey Commons, in the college’s Reed Union Building, are informal, and a portion of the seating is reserved for students from Erie’s Diehl Elementary School.
