Music at Noon: The Logan Series
12:00 PM - 1:01 PM / October 25, 2024
The 2024-25 season of Music at Noon: The Logan Series continues Oct. 25 with a free performance by Alla Boara, a Cleveland-based jazz ensemble that performs regional Italian folk songs. The concert, in Penn State Behrend’s McGarvey Commons, begins at noon; the performance is free and open to the public.
Alla Boara was formed by percussionist Anthony Taddeo, who also leads and composes for the AlbaTrio. The group is fronted by Amanda Powell, a soprano who has worked with Bobby McFerrin and Shelia Jordan.
Members of Alla Boara have performed at the Bern Jazz Festival, the Ciclo 1906 Jazz Fest, and at the Smithsonian Museum. Bassist Ian Kinnaman performed “America the Beautiful” at Super Bowl LIII, in 2018.
Music at Noon: The Logan Series was founded by Kay Logan in 1989 and is supported by a $1 million endowment by the Kay Hardesty Logan Foundation. The series was designed to strip away the mystique that often is attached to professional chamber music. The lunchtime concerts, which are presented in McGarvey Commons, in the college’s Reed Union Building, are informal, and a portion of the seating is reserved for students from Erie’s Diehl Elementary School.
