Penn State Behrend Faculty Showcase

More than 50 Penn State Behrend faculty members will discuss their research and scholarly activity at the college’s second annual Faculty Showcase on Wednesday, Jan. 28.

The program will begin at 2 p.m. in McGarvey Commons with introductions by Chancellor Ralph Ford and Alicyn Rhoades, vice chancellor and associate dean for research and graduate studies. A series of 15-minute presentations will follow, including talks about lightweight AI for biometrics, pricing and portfolio strategies for family-centered genetic testing, and the tensile properties of tarantula silk.

Andrew Read, senior vice president for research at Penn State and the Evan Pugh University Professor of Biology and Entomology, will join the program via Zoom to introduce the keynote speaker, Gamini Mendis, an assistant professor of polymer engineering and science and plastics engineering technology and the recipient of the Penn State Behrend Council of Fellows Faculty Research Award.

A reception will follow, including a display of student research posters.
