The Penn State Behrend Jazz Ensemble will perform its fall concert on Thursday, Dec. 8, in McGarvey Commons, in the college’s Reed Union Building. The performance, which begins at 8 p.m., is free and open to the public.

The concert will include compositions by Charles Mingus, Wayne Shorter, Duke Ellington and others.

The Penn State Behrend Jazz Ensemble features traditional big band instruments — saxophones, trumpets and trombones — with a rhythm section consisting of piano, guitar, bass, drums and percussion. The group is directed by Joel Hunt, associate teaching professor of music.
