Diali Cissokho and Kaira Ba will perform a free concert at Penn State Behrend when the Rhythms of Life Series continues on Nov. 16. The performance, which begins at noon in McGarvey Commons, is free and open to the public.

Cissokho formed the band — Kaira Ba means “the great peace” — in North Carolina in 2011. He plays the kora, a bridge-harp with 22 strings.

The seven-piece band blends West African traditional music with elements of funk, rock, blues and jazz. They have recorded three full-length albums and have toured extensively in the United States, and in Senegal.

The Rhythms of Life Series is sponsored by Penn State Behrend’s Office of Educational Equity and Diversity Programs and the Student Activity Fee. The series features a variety of music, dance and storytelling from all regions of the world. To learn more, visit the Rhythms of Life Series webpage.
