Rhythms of Life Series

12:00 PM - 1:00 PM / March 14, 2024

The Rhythms of Life Series at Penn State Behrend will continue March 14 with a free performance by the Seamus Egan Project, a four-piece Irish band that features fiddle, banjo and mandolin. The performance, which begins at noon in Bruno’s Café, is free and open to the public.

Egan plays the Irish flute, tenor banjo, guitar, mandolin and tin whistle. By the age of 14, he had won the All-Ireland Championships at the Fleadh Cheoil on four different instruments.

Egan founded Solas in 1994, merging the breakneck speed of informal Irish jam nights with elements of jazz, classical and bluegrass music. He composed the soundtrack for the film “The Brothers McMullen” and co-wrote the Sarah McLachlan song “Weep Not for the Memories.”

Egan’s performance at Penn State Behrend is sponsored by the Rhythms of Life Series, which features a variety of music, dance and storytelling from all regions of the world. The series is supported by Behrend’s Office of Educational Equity and Diversity Programs and the Student Activity Fee. To learn more, visit the Rhythms of Life Series webpage.
