The poet Kathy Fagan will read from her work as part of the Smith Creative Writers Reading Series at Penn State Behrend on Thursday. Nov. 3. The reading, which begins at 6 p.m. in Metzgar Center, is free and open to the public.

Fagan is the author of six collections of poetry, including “Bad Hobby” and “Sycamore,” which was a finalist for the 2018 Kingsley Tufts Award. Her work has appeared in The New York Times Sunday Magazine, The Nation, The New Republic and Kenyon Review, among other publications.

She is the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship and an Ingram Merrill fellowship. In 2017, she was named the Ohio Poet of the Year.

The Smith Creative Writers Reading Series is produced by Penn State Behrend’s creative writing program, which leads to a bachelor of fine arts degree. The program is the only one of its kind at Penn State.
