The Smith Creative Writers Reading Series at Penn State Behrend continues Thursday, April 2, with a reading by Dustin M. Hoffman, whose newest story collection, “Such A Good Man,” was published by the University of Wisconsin Press.
The reading, which begins at 6 p.m. in the lobby of Metzgar Center, is free and open to the public. A reception with Hoffman will begin at 5:30 p.m.
Hoffman is the author of the story collection “No Good for Digging” and the fiction chapbook “Secrets of the Wild.” His first book, “One-Hundred-Knuckled Fist,” won the 2015 Prairie Schooner Book Prize.
Hoffman has published more than 100 stories in journals that include Black Warrior Review, Alaska Quarterly Review, Ninth Letter, Witness, Wigleaf and The Threepenny Review. He holds a doctorate in creative writing from Western Michigan University and a master of fine arts degree in fiction from Bowling Green State University.
Before beginning his career as an author, he spent 10 years painting houses in Michigan.
The Smith Creative Writers Reading Series is produced by Penn State Behrend’s creative writing program, which leads to a bachelor of fine arts degree. The program is the only one of its kind at Penn State.
