Author Rachel Swearingen will read from her fiction when the Smith Creative Writers Reading Series continues at Penn State Behrend on April 6. Her reading, which begins at 6 p.m. in the lobby of Metzgar Center, is free and open to the public.

Swearingen’s debut story collection, “How to Walk on Water,” won the 2018 New American Fiction Prize. She also has been awarded the Rona Jaffe Foundation Writers’ Award and the Mississippi Review Prize in Fiction. In 2019, she was named one of “30 Writers to Watch” by the Guild Literary Complex.
