The poet Matthew Roth will read from his work on Nov. 9 when the Smith Creative Writers Reading Series continues at Penn State Behrend. The reading, which will begin at 6 p.m. in Metzgar Center, is free and open to the public.

A reception with the author will precede the reading, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Roth has published two books of poetry: “Rains Rain” and “Bird Silence.” His poems also have appeared in Verse, American Literary Review and Antioch Review. He teaches literature and writing at Messiah University and serves as associate reviews editor for the Nabokov Online Journal.

The Smith Creative Writers Reading Series is produced by Penn State Behrend’s creative writing program, which leads to a bachelor’s of fine arts degree. The program is the only one of its kind at Penn State.
