Smith Creative Writers Reading Series

The author Eugene Garcia Cross will read from his work on April 18 when the Smith Creative Writers Reading Series continues at Penn State Behrend. The reading, which will begin at 6 p.m. in Smith Chapel, is free and open to the public.

Cross is the author of the novel “Miss Me Forever” and the story collection “Fires of our Choosing,” which was awarded a gold medal in the short story category of the Independent Publisher Book Awards. His stories have appeared in Glimmer Train, American Short Fiction, Story Quarterly and Callaloo.

Cross was a faculty member in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Behrend. He also has taught at Northwestern and the University of Chicago. His TV work has included writing for Disney, NBC and Peacock.

The Smith Creative Writers Reading Series is produced by Penn State Behrend’s creative writing program, which leads to a bachelor’s of fine arts degree. The program is the only one of its kind at Penn State.
