'Sweet Sorrow' reading at Penn State Behrend

6:00 PM - 7:30 PM / April 21, 2022

Two students in the creative writing program at Penn State Behrend will read from their fiction at a “Sweet Sorrow” reading on April 21. The program, which is open to the public, will begin at 6 p.m. in the Metzgar Center lobby.

Sabrina Crawford will read from her senior thesis, a novella written in the style of psychological realism. Crawford, a double-major in creative writing and biology, is a student in the Schreyer Honors College.

Hayden Schroter will read from his thesis, a novel in the fantasy and historically informed fiction genre. He serves on the fiction editorial staff at Lake Effect, the college’s international literary journal.

The “Sweet Sorrow” readings are part of the Smith Creative Writers Reading Series at Behrend. The series is produced by Behrend’s Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) program in creative writing — the only program of its kind at Penn State — with support from the Clarence A. and Eugenie Baumann Smith Fund.
