ERIE, Pa. — The Penn State Behrend soccer teams opened Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference play with wins over La Roche on Sept. 28. The men won by a score of 3-0. The women won, 4-1.

Behrend’s volleyball team also was in action last week. Here are the scores and highlights:

Men’s soccer

Penn State Behrend 3, La Roche 0

Penn State Behrend 2, Houghton 1

Andrew Cassano, a senior from Bethel Park, scored the game-winner against Houghton, hitting the net in the 68th minute. He scored again against La Roche.

Women’s soccer

Penn State Behrend 2, Capital 1

Penn State Behrend 4, La Roche 1

Case Western 2, Penn State Behrend 1

Audra Kuzma, a senior from Center, scored on a header against Case Western, which is ranked No. 13 in the nation. Trinity Prestash, a senior form Philipsburg, scored twice against La Roche.

Women’s volleyball

Fredonia 3, Penn State Behrend 1

Penn State Behrend 3, Houghton 0

Thiel 3, Penn State Behrend 0

Sara Nobach, a junior from Athens, Michigan, had a team-high 20 digs against Thiel. Brynne Smith, a freshman from Butler, added 23 assists, five aces and nine digs.
