The Penn State Behrend men’s swimming team set 12 school records in a Jan. 29 dual meet at Nazareth. The women’s team set eight records. The teams will return to the pool Saturday for a Senior Night dual meet against Gannon.

Men’s basketball
Penn State Behrend 78, Medaille 65
PJ Gourley, a senior from Butler, scored a career-high 27 points against Medaille. He also grabbed 13 rebounds. Seth Myers, a junior from Erie, scored 19 points, tying his career high.
Women’s basketball
Penn State Behrend 67, Medaille 56
The Lions built a 7-0 record in January. Caitlin Carnuche, a senior from New Castle, led the team against Medaille, scoring 25 points.
Men’s track and field
Braeden Smith, a senior from Erie, and Samuel Hetrick, a sophomore from New Bethlehem, tied the indoor school record for high jump at Wittenberg University’s Steemer Showcase. Both cleared a height of 2.08 meters. Kody Klein, a freshman from North East, set the Behrend indoor record for the 800-meter run, finishing in 1:56.28.
Women’s track and field
Haley Felton, a sophomore from Midway, set a personal best in the 60-meter dash at Wittenberg University’s Steemer Showcase. She finished in 9.05 seconds, placing 10th. Felton also anchored the 4x400 relay, running with Victoria Dieterich, a freshman from Oakmont; Izzy Spires, a junior from Wattsburg; and Ivy Laffan, a freshman from Waterford.

Nazareth 179, Penn State Behrend 101
Jake Schmidt, a graduate student from Erie, won the 400 freestyle (4:19.53) and the 200 freestyle (2:00.77, a Behrend record). Tim Compton, a freshman from Pittsburgh, set records in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.74) and the 100 butterfly (1:00.24).
Women’s swimming and diving
Nazareth 212, Penn State Behrend 81
Marcella Puglia, a senior from Beaver Falls, won the 800 freestyle (10:00.24) and the 400 freestyle (4:52.76). Emma Webster, a sophomore from Bradford, won the 200 backstroke, finishing in 2:31.78 – a Behrend record.
Men’s volleyball
Juniata 3, Penn State Behrend 0
St. John Fisher 3, Penn State Behrend 1
JP Goodsel, a graduate student from Corry, matched a career-high 16 kills against St. John Fisher. He added 11 digs.
Wrestling
The Lions lost dual matches to Alfred State and Ohio Wesleyan, forfeiting multiple bouts in each match. Heavyweight Joe Newara, a senior from Harborcreek, won by decision against Ohio Wesleyan, finishing 3-2.
