Behrend track and field teams compete at SUNYAC outdoor championships

ERIE, Pa. — The Penn State Behrend men’s track and field team placed second at the State University of New York Athletic Conference outdoor championships in Cortland, New York. Carter Tobin, a sophomore from Irwin, won the 200-meter sprint, finishing in 21.81 seconds. He was named Most Valuable Performer at the two-day event.

Peyton Brewer, a junior from Erie, won the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing in 9:33.76 — a new Behrend record.

Nicolin Pierce, a junior from Erie, won the 1,500-meter race, finishing in 4:01.20.

In the women’s events, Caroline Lewis, a sophomore from Erie, won the javelin throw. She completed a 34.89-meter throw. Braylee Lukehart, a sophomore from Reynoldsville, placed third, completing a 31-meter throw.

Baseball

Behrend’s baseball team also was in action last week. Here are the scores and highlights:

  • Penn State Behrend 14, La Roche 4

Dylan Barnes, a junior from Pittsburgh, hit a walk-off double in the first game against Chatham. He batted three-for-four, with four RBIs. Thomas Nicely, a senior from Delmont, earned his 100th RBI.
