ERIE, Pa. — With a win over Kenyon, the Penn State Behrend women’s basketball team has built a 5-game win streak. The Lions travel to Bethany on Dec. 19.

Behrend’s wrestling and track and field teams also were in action last week. Here are the highlights:

 

Men’s basketball

Penn State Behrend 73, Fredonia 56

Tommy DiRienzo, a junior from Pittsburgh, scored a season-high 22 points against Fredonia. Matthew McDonough, a freshman from Pittsburgh, added 13 points, including four 3-pointers.

 

Women’s basketball

Penn State Behrend 69, Kenyon 66

Morgan Altavilla, a freshman from Pittsburgh, scored a season-high 26 points against Kenyon. Rachel Majewski, a sophomore from Erie, added 23 points.

 

Men’s track and field

Antonio Stello, a senior from Punxsutawney, won the 60-meter sprint at the Nazareth Alumni Opener, finishing in 7.02.

 

Women’s track and field

Olivia Nola, a sophomore from Erie, ran a personal-best in the mile race at the Nazareth Alumni Opener, finishing in 5:14.81. She placed second. Madison Kappeler, a junior from Cecil, tied for third in the pole vault, clearing a height of 10-0, and placed ninth in the 60-meter sprint, finishing in 8.53.

 

Wrestling

Jamestown Community College 27, Penn State Behrend 12

Hiram 35, Penn State Behrend 14

Pitt-Bradford 44, Penn State Behrend 6

Zach Dellinger, a freshman from Williamsville, New York, won by decision against Hiram after a technical fall in the 125-pound bout. Jose Ortiz, a freshman from New York City, won by decision at 133 pounds.
