ERIE, Pa. — Penn State Behrend’s 4x400 relay team — Brendan Luce, Jake Walden, Kody Klein and Jake Egizio — set a school record at the SPIRE Indoor Games in Geneva, Ohio, finishing in 3:23.85. The Lions placed fourth in a field of 20 teams.
Behrend’s basketball, volleyball and bowling teams also were in action last week. Here are the scores and highlights:
Men’s basketball
Penn State Behrend 83, Penn State Altoona 82 (OT)
Penn State Behrend 78, Hilbert 63
Matt Niland, a senior from Fairview, scored a season-high 17 points against Penn State Altoona. RJ Marsh, a senior from State College, grabbed eight rebounds and had three steals.
Women’s basketball
Penn State Behrend 71, Penn State Altoona 61
Penn State Behrend 70, Hilbert 36
Four of the team’s five starters scored double-digit points against Penn State Altoona. Rachel Majewski, a junior from Erie, led with 25 points.
Men’s track and field
Samuel Hetrick, a senior from New Bethlehem, placed 12th in the high jump at the SPIRE Indoor Games in Geneva, Ohio. He cleared a height of 1.88 meters.
Women’s track and field
Lindsey Hartle, a sophomore from Pittsburgh, placed eighth in a field of 42 runners at the SPIRE Indoor Games in Geneva, Ohio. She finished the 3,000-meter run in 11:10.42.
Men’s volleyball
Penn State Behrend 3, Geneva 1
The Lions hit a season-best .360 against Geneva. Owen Wienczkowski, a senior from Waterford, had 16 kills on 22 attempts. Logan Hering, a senior from North East, added 13 kills and eight digs.
