Sisters to discuss unconventional career paths at Penn State Behrend

ERIE, Pa. — Lori and Traci Tapani, sisters and co-presidents of the precision sheet metal fabrication company Wyoming Machine, will speak at Penn State Behrend on Thursday, Nov. 12, for the School of Engineering’s Fall 2015 Speaker Event.

Their presentation, titled “Passion & Possibility: Girl Germs, High Heels, and Other Tales from the Shop Floor,” takes place at 7 p.m. in the Black Conference Center, Room 180 of the campus' Jack Burke Research and Economic Development Center, 5101 Jordan Road. The event is free and open to the public, and free parking will be available in the deck located behind Burke Center, off Technology Drive.

Wyoming Machine specializes in CNC punching, laser cutting, forming and welding. The Tapani sisters joined the company in 1994 following careers in business and finance. Under their leadership, the company has thrived, averaging 6 percent growth each year in a very competitive industry.

During the presentation, the sisters will share stories from an unconventional upbringing and touch on their experiences owning a metal fabrication company on the path to becoming industry leaders. Wyoming Machine serves a variety of companies and industries, making products such as heavy equipment, retail store fixtures and electronic enclosures.
