Penn State Powwow still in need of volunteers for June 25-26 event

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Volunteers are needed as the traditional American Indian Powwow hosted by Penn State returns in person June 25-26 to Mount Nittany Middle School, located at 656 Brandywine Drive in State College.

The powwow committee is seeking volunteers to assist with logistical aspects of the event. Volunteers are needed for: set up/take down, work in the American Indian kitchen, errands/supplies/facilities, and various other duties. Volunteers are asked to commit to working in four-hour blocks of time.

People interested in volunteering can email Bruce Teeple, volunteer coordinator, at mongopawn44@hotmail.com to be added to the volunteer list.

The Penn State Powwow is a contemporary social gathering and celebration of community featuring Native American drum music, songs and dance; Native American foods; and American Indian vendors showing and selling their arts and native-made goods.

The Penn State Powwow is recognized as one of the finest family friendly events available in the area and has earned a national reputation as one of the finest in the country. Admission is free and open to the public. Doors open at 11 a.m. both days. Click here for more details.
