Norman Bristol Colón to speak at Latino Forum on Oct. 14

Norman Bristol Colón, president and CEO of The Progreso Group, a consulting, strategy, and public relations firm specializing in Latino affairs, will speak at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14, in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium. His presentation is free and open to the public.

Colón’s presentation is part of the campus's fourth annual Penn State Berks Latino Forum and National Hispanic Heritage Month. The Latino Forum is open to students from local Berks County high schools; only the keynote address is open to the public.

Previously, Colón was appointed by Pennsylvania Governor Edward G. Rendell to serve as Executive Director of the Governor’s Advisory Commission on Latino Affairs (GACLA). He was the youngest appointed and longest-serving executive director in GACLA’s history, serving under both Governor Rendell and Governor Corbett. Colón was also one of the founders and first-elected National Chair of the United States Council on Latino Affairs. He was elected National Chair of the Interstate Migrant Education Council, the national policy organization advocating for the nation’s migrant children and families, based in Washington, D.C. Colón has been the recipient of numerous recognitions and he is an alumnus of The Pennsylvania State University.
