MEDIA, Pa. – Amy Forsberg joined Penn State Brandywine as a Student Academic Success Center specialist for the Office of Academic Affairs in July. Coming from Delaware County Community College where she was the foundation coordinator, Forsberg said she is looking forward to getting to know the students and helping them navigate higher education.

Forsberg began working in higher education after graduating from college, starting her professional career in student activities for Penn State Altoona and then moving into a teaching role as an instructor of French. She has since worked in numerous departments at different institutions in the Midwest and Pennsylvania, working in admissions, grant-funded scholarships, dual enrollment, advancement and advising. Finding herself back at Penn State, she said she chose to work for Brandywine because of the close-knit campus feel and wanting to be back in a student-facing role.

“At Delaware County [Community College], I was the foundation coordinator for our advancement department. It was student-adjacent, but I didn’t get to work with students very often,” she said. “I wanted to get back into a student-facing role and have the chance to collaborate with different departments on campus. I also like the size of this campus and the way that it feels like a community.”

In terms of her goals, Forsberg said she would like to enhance the Student Academic Success Center and raise awareness of the space.

“I want the Student Academic Success Center to be the go-to place for students to come with any questions. Even if we don’t have the answer, we still want to be there for students so we can point them in the right direction to get their questions answered and connect them with the resources that they need,” she said. “I want students to feel welcome and encouraged to come into the space. No question is too small.”

Outside of work, Forsberg enjoys spending time outdoors, reading, visiting coffee shops and spending time with her family.
