Penn State alumnus, business leader to address Brandywine’s spring commencement

MEDIA, Pa. — Penn State alumnus Matt Cabrey, executive director of Select Greater Philadelphia, will speak at Brandywine’s spring commencement on May 6. 

Cabrey leads the team effort to market the 11-county region of northern Delaware, southern New Jersey and southeastern Pennsylvania to a national and international audience as a top-tier place to establish and grow a business. As part of the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia, Select Greater Philadelphia collaborates with business and civic leaders, state and county economic development teams, and other partners to attract new businesses that create new jobs.

Prior to joining Select Greater Philadelphia, Cabrey held leadership roles with Shire plc, an international specialty biopharmaceutical company; worked with PNC Bank, where he managed regional communications projects; led media relations with Keystone Mercy Health Plan; and held a variety of marketing and communications positions with the American Red Cross. He began his professional career in radio, producing public affairs programs and sporting events.

Cabrey has served on the boards of various community organizations and currently serves as a member of the board and executive committee with the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau. He is a regular speaker on topics associated with regional business growth and Greater Philadelphia’s history and assets.

Cabrey earned a bachelor of arts degree in journalism from Penn State.  He began his college career at the Brandywine campus and completed his degree at University Park.  He also studied mass communications at Manchester University in England as part of Penn State’s Education Abroad Program.
