On Saturday, May 18, eight Penn State organizations will co-sponsor the 10th annual Penn State Day at Knoebels Amusement Park in Elysburg. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. at Pavilion M. A program will begin at 11 a.m. and will include lunch, a performance by the Alumni Blue Band, an appearance by the Nittany Lion, and prize raffles.

Several ticket options are available. Those attending must be registered. Attendees 5 years and older can purchase a ticket for $22, which includes lunch, the door prize raffle and a $10 food/ride ticket booklet. The cost for children age 4 and under is $12 and will include lunch, the door prize raffle and a $10 food/ride ticket. A “lunch only” ticket can be purchased for $12 and does not include a food/ride ticket booklet. The live entertainment and prize raffles noted above are included with all ticket prices. Penn State Day T-shirts can be ordered in advance for $10 each. The deadline for reservations is April 30.

Individual organizations hosting the event are Penn State Hazleton, Schuylkill, Wilkes-Barre and Scranton Alumni Societies, and the Greater Hazleton, Greater Scranton, Greater Susquehanna Valley and Schuylkill Chapters of the Penn State Alumni Association.

This year, there will be a collection during the event for the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center. Donations of gift cards, new blankets and new clothing items (including sweatpants and sweatshirts in assorted sizes) for veterans are welcome. Knoebels Amusement Resort is offering a free wrist band to all those who served or are currently serving in the military with proof of service on this date only.

Last year’s event was attended by more than 500 alumni, family and friends. All are welcome.
