Event celebrates King’s life and legacy with theme 'A Testament of Hope"

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The 48th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Banquet will be held Sunday, Jan. 15, at the Bryce Jordan Center on Penn State’s University Park campus. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the event will begin at 5:30 p.m. Parking will be available at the Bryce Jordan Center.

The theme for this year's banquet, which will celebrate King’s life and legacy and recognize members of the community who make a difference through King’s belief of advancing civil rights through nonviolence and civil disobedience, is "A Testament of Hope – #FORTHECULTURE.”

The program includes a buffet dinner and cash bar, followed by performances and recognition of the 2023 Forum on Black Affairs (FOBA) Humanitarian Award recipient, as well as student scholarship winners. Immediately following the banquet, guests are welcomed to stay for a night of dancing.

Tickets are $80 for individual adults and $775 for a table of 10. Tables can only be confirmed after full payment has been received. Guests may register and purchase tickets online.

A limited number of hotel rooms are reserved at the Springhill Suites by Marriott, located at 1935 Waddle Road in State College. Single- or double-occupancy rooms are reserved at a rate of $114 a night until Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023. More information about hotel accommodations is available here.
