75 Days 'til MLK event will reveal speaker, theme for 2016 commemoration

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The 75 Days 'til MLK event will build excitement for next year's Martin Luther King Jr. commemoration at Penn State and reveal details on the January celebration of the civil rights leader's life and legacy.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 75 Days 'til MLK will feature food, games, giveaways and student performances in the HUB-Robeson Center. At 1:18 p.m. near the Monumental Staircase, the guest speaker and theme of the University's MLK Commemoration Week, beginning Jan. 18, will be revealed. The celebration includes a day of service, an oratorical contest and a community showcase. Past speakers have included Angela Davis, Ruby Bridges and Michael Eric Dyson.
