UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Alumnus Fred Vuich, an award-winning sports photographer known largely for his contributions to Sports Illustrated, will discuss his career and share samples of his work during a free public event at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 18 in 258 Willard Building on the University Park campus.

Vuich is a multifaceted photographer with wide-ranging experience. Along with Sports Illustrated and Golf Magazine, he is a frequent contributor to several international publications and sports organizations, including Major League Baseball and the U.S. Golf Association. In his role as supervisor of photo operations for the USGA, he leads a team of photographers and editors at the U.S. Open.

A Pittsburgh native, Vuich earned his bachelor's degree from Penn State in 1977. 

He was a staff photographer, responsible for tournament, travel and landscape photography, for Golf Magazine from 1990 to 2007. He also has worked for the Associated Press and The New York Times, as well as the Pittsburgh Penguins.
