UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Students at Penn State's University Park campus can spend more time studying and less time doing laundry with the launch of Tide University Laundry this fall.

The average college student spends approximately two hours every week doing laundry during the academic year. Tide University Laundry can potentially give students back up to 80 hours a year by offering on-demand wash-and-fold and dry-cleaning options through an app-based locker service with locations across campus. The program is available at more than 20 universities across the United States.

At Penn State, starting Aug. 26, nearly 100 lockers will initially be installed across the University Park campus for laundry drop-off and pickup. The lockers will be placed in residential commons, convenient to on-campus residents, and allow for 24-hour access. Students can drop off their laundry, then pick it up 48 hours later, clean and folded, retail-style; or dry cleaned.

Students can track their bag in the MyLaundry app, which alerts them when their clothes are ready for pickup. The Tide University Laundry team will pick up and drop off orders daily from Monday to Saturday.

Students will have several plan options to choose from:

Annual plans

  • 10 lb./week: $649 per year
  • 20 lb./week: $749 (Most popular plan) per year
  • 30 lb./week: $849 per year

Semester plans

  • 10 lb./week: $349 per semester
  • 20 lb./week: $399 per semester
  • 30 lb./week: $449 per semester

Dry-clean-only plans also are available for faculty and staff. All plans can be purchased in the MyLaundry app, available for iOS or Android, or online at www.universitylaundry.com/PennState. For more information, call 844-745-0498.
