Arboretum holds Arbor Day event

Grade-school students from the region spent their Arbor Day enjoying all that the Arboretum at Penn State has to offer. Nearly 300 youngsters and their teachers spent the day learning about pollination, sapling growth and planting, as well as tree investigating and watershed conservancy.

Staff from the Master Gardener Program at Penn State and the Center for Pollinator Research in Penn State's College of Agriculture led youngsters through a variety of hands-on learning stations.  The event culminated with all the students pitching in to plant three new trees at the 35-acre Arboretum.
