UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — An Emmy Award-winning creative director who has been named one of the “30 Most Creative People in Advertising Under 30” four times will present the Bellisario College of Communications' annual Davis Lecture in Advertising Ethics on Nov. 3.
Bianca Guimaraes, partner and executive creative director of New York-based Mischief, will present her lecture titled “Social Responsibility in the Creative World” at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 3 in Foster Auditorium of Paterno Library on Penn State's University Park campus. Guimaraes will make her presentation remotely. The session is free and open to the public.
In 2021, AdAge named Guimaraes among the industry’s “Leading Women.”
Guimaraes was named as one of Business Insider’s “30 Most Creative People in Advertising Under 30” in 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2016, and Adweek included her among its “Creative 100” chief creative officers.
Also this year, Guimaraes launched her own ad firm, Mischief, after six years with BBDO in New York.
Guimaraes steered several high-profile ad campaigns while at BBDO New York, including the Emmy-winning “Back to School Essentials” for Sandy Hook Promise, Thinx’s spot that imagined a world in which men menstruated (“MENstruation”), and Monica Lewinsky’s anti-cyberbullying campaign, “The Epidemic.” Ultimately, Guimaraes aims to encourage more young women to consider advertising as their profession and inspire women worldwide.
Guimaraes graduated in 2008 with a degree in advertising and marketing from Faculdade Armando Alvares Penteado in São Paulo, Brazil, as well as with a degree in art and design from Panamericana Escola de Arte e Design, also in São Paulo.
