UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Willy Wilkinson, an award-winning transgender writer and public health consultant, will visit Penn State from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 22, in 129 A&B HUB-Robeson Center.
A dynamic and engaging speaker recognized widely for his expertise in transgender issues, Wilkinson will give a presentation titled “Born on the Edge of Race and Gender: Viewing Trans Justice with an Intersectional Lens.”
Wilkinson’s memoir, “Born on the Edge of Race and Gender: A Voice for Cultural Competency,” was released in late 2015.
An advocate for marginalized populations since the early days of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, Wilkinson has trained and provided consultation serves for hundreds of community health organizations, businesses and educational institutions on how to provide equal access to LGBT populations. He also has extensive experience working with and on behalf of communities of color, substance users, sex workers, youth and people with disabilities.
