UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Centre County District Attorney’s Office will hold a black light vigil and march beginning at 6 p.m. April 6 on Penn State’s University Park campus for National Crime Victims’ Rights Week. The march will begin at the Old Main steps and will end at the Flex Theatre in the HUB-Robeson Center, where the black light vigil will be held.
National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, April 2 to 8, is a time to celebrate progress achieved, raise awareness of victims’ rights and services, and stand with those whose lives have been forever altered by crime. The march and vigil are being held to raise awareness, show support, promote victim’s rights, and honor all those in our community and across the nation who have been a victim of crime.
Event speakers will include Stacy Parks Miller, Centre County district attorney; Kristina Taylor-Porter, director of the Children’s Advocacy Center; and Anne Ard, executive director of the Center County Woman’s Resource Center. McGruff the Crime Dog will be present for pictures, and a balloon launch will occur at the vigil. Participants will also be able to individually honor crime victims.
