Business Majors Night to inform students about academic choices

The Sept. 7 event invites students to explore a variety of ways to study business.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Division of Undergraduate Studies, in partnership with many academic colleges across University Park, will host Penn State’s seventh annual Business Majors Night from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7, in 110 Business Building.

This event is an annual program for students who have business goals but are not sure which major(s) might match their interests and abilities, or who may not know if a business curriculum would be a good fit for them.

Seating will be limited; therefore, interested students should sign up early here.

During the program, representatives from various Penn State colleges will present brief descriptions of their business-related majors, explain what is covered in these majors, and discuss how the majors can help students prepare for careers in business. A career services counselor will also address ways in which students can find a business major that best suits them.

Students will hear about business majors in the Smeal College of Business, as well as in the colleges of Agricultural Sciences, Arts and Architecture, Communications, Earth and Mineral Sciences, Education, Engineering, Health and Human Development, Information Sciences and Technology, the Liberal Arts, and Eberly College of Science. They will also learn how various majors can help them prepare for career paths that include global industries, economics, hospitality, agriculture, entrepreneurship, law, communications, health, technology, and more.

Students will be able to compare curricula, ask questions, and consider opportunities across the University. In future meetings with their academic advisers, students can also discuss what they learned and be better prepared to decide what to study at Penn State.

The Division of Undergraduate Studies, a unit within the Office of Undergraduate Education, is Penn State’s largest unit of enrollment for first-year students. It leads the development of advising policies and practices, manages the University-wide academic information network, and provides general academic advising for current and prospective Penn State students.
