Campus parking and transit service changes announced for spring break

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Transportation Services has announced information on campus transit and parking for the University's upcoming spring break week, scheduled for Monday, March 7, through Saturday, March 12.

CATA service changes

CATA will observe its Reduced Service schedule from Monday, Mar. 7 through Saturday, Mar. 12. During this time, CATA's campus service will include only Blue Loop service, Monday through Friday, and Red Link service, Monday through Saturday.

No blue bus Blue Loop service March 6; regular Campus Shuttle and Hershey Shuttle to continue

Sunday Penn State blue bus Blue Loop service will not be available Sunday, March 6, but will return Sunday, March 13. 

The Campus Shuttle via College Avenue, the Campus Shuttle via Beaver Avenue, and the Hershey Shuttle will maintain regular service schedules during spring break.

Regular parking regulations remain in effect

All normal faculty/staff, student, and visitor parking regulations will remain in effect during spring break. 

However, core faculty/staff permits (Brown, Green, Orange, Red, Silver, Yellow) will be valid for parking at the following resident student parking areas from Sunday, March 6, through Saturday, March 12:

  • Brown 11 (White Course Apartments)
  • Lot 22 (Eastview Terrace)
  • Lot 81 (South/Pollock Halls)
  • Lot 82 (East Halls)

Faculty/staff Commuter and Evening/Weekend permit holders who wish to gain this additional parking access must visit the Transportation Services Office to purchase a core upgrade permit.

Transportation Services Office, Fleet Operations and Bike Den open

The Transportation Services Office, Fleet Operations and the Bike Den will observe normal hours during spring break.

Student parking after spring break

Students not currently registered for on-campus parking who wish to return to campus after spring break with a vehicle must first register for a permit. Students looking to register for a Brown 11, YWH/Nittany Deck, YAS/West Deck or Lot 43 permit may do so on the online parking portal, but those looking to register for a student Commuter (SCR) permit must visit the Transportation Services Office at 1 Eisenhower Parking Deck. The office is open weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and students will need to bring their Penn State ID, license plate number, and a form of payment (cash, check, credit card, LionCash+).
